Louise Porter

Boonville- M. Louise Porter, 82, a former resident of Belle Isle Place and widow of Reginald G., passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at The Heritage Health Care Center, Utica, where she had resided since October, 2013. Affectionately known as Louise, she was born in Waterville, Maine, on April 28, 1936, a daughter of William and Delia Quirion Gagne. She graduated from Waterville Main High School, and on November 27, 1957, Louise was united in marriage with Reginald G. Reggie Porter, in Waterville Maine. In 1963, the couple relocated to Boonville, where Mr. Porter taught Business subjects for many years at Boonville Central School and at Adirondack High School, retiring in 1994. Mr. Porter passed away on December 31, 2009. For thirty years Mrs. Porter was employed at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where she was director of resident activities for over twenty years, retiring in 1997. Louise greatly loved her husband, Reggie and her family and her home on Belle Isle Place in Boonville. She found much joy in attending all of her sons sporting events while they were in school. Later when their son Steve became head coach of West Canada Valley Central School football, basketball and baseball games, Reggie and Louise loved attending all of the games which their son coached and especially enjoyed attending games which their grandsons were participating in. Louise and Reggie also greatly enjoyed attending Red Sox Baseball games and spending time at the ocean and in Maine. They were also Syracuse Football fans. Louise found great pleasure in watching the New England Patriots Football Team and their longtime lead player, Tom Brady. Louise loved her husband, children, great grandchildren and all of her family. Her grandchildren described her best by fondly remembering Louise as a warm hearted woman, who loved to cook for her grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Steven G. and Carol, Remsen, Scott R. Boonville; four grandchildren, Brad, Erik (Ashleigh), Taylor and Tyler; two great grandchildren, Trenton and Beckett. Louise is survived by a younger sibling, Alice Harding (Richard), Waterville, ME and many nieces and nephews, including Doug and Barb Cote, a niece and nephew, of Quakertown, PA, who were very close of Louise, and also a sister in law, Joann Gagnon, Winslow, ME. She is also survived by her extended family of friends at the Heritage Home in Utica. Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 20, at 11:00 am at St. Josephs Cemetery, Boonville. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Reginald G. Porter Memorial Scholarship Fund, C/O Adirondack Central School, 110 Ford Street, Boonville, NY 13309. Her funeral arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. Boonville.
