Louise H. Zeigler

Boonville- Louise Hess Zeigler, 91, of Mineral Springs Road, widow of Ervin B., passed away on Friday, November 23, 2018, in the comfort of her home, while under the care of her loving family. Affectionately known as Weezie, she was born in Boonville, on June 12, 1927, a daughter of the late Nelson and Elizabeth Howley Hess. A lifelong resident of Boonville, she graduated from Boonville High School, with the Class of 1944. On July 31, 1948, Louise was united in marriage with Ervin B. Zeigler, at St. Josephs Church, Boonville. Mr. Zeigler, a self-employed contractor and Highway Superintendent for The Town of Boonville Highway Department from 1966, until 1984, when he passed away on October 13, 1984. Louise was employed at Monroe Manufacturing Company, Boonville, Rome Airforce Base, Acme Market Basket Stores, Slims Restaurant, Sno-Top Bottling Works, all of Boonville. She completed her husbands term as Highway Superintendent, for the Town of Boonville Highway Department. On March 15, 1987, she retired from employment as a secretary in the office of Kortenaer Village Apartments in Boonville. Louise was a member of Charles J. Love Post # 406 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Boonville, Forestport Up and Go Senior Citizens, Young at Heart Senior Citizens, Senior Mixed Bowling League and she bowled for many years in the Hi-Lo Bowling League, also serving as the league treasurer for many years. She was an avid New York Mets Fan and greatly enjoyed watching Mets Baseball games on TV and she was a Syracuse Orange Basketball Fan. She loved to knit, crochet, bake cookies and play cards. She also found much joy in watching her grandchildren, and great grandchildren play various sports. She was a permanent fixture at the BYAA Ball Park, watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren play baseball. Louise dearly loved each and every one of her children their spouses and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Surviving are four sons and daughters in law, Larry, Ronald (Dianna) Lynn(Tina) and Dwayne (Charlotte); one daughter and son in law, Bonnie (George) Snyder, all of Boonville. She was predeceased by a son, Cory, Cork Zeigler, on March 20, 2015 and by a daughter in law, Cynthia Zeigler, on May 10, 2014. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; Tammy (Gregg) Farr, North Carolina, Jodi (Don) Croniser, Boonville, Miranda (Mike) Bush, Lowville, Cassandra (Craig) Hollis, North Carolina, Rob (Lisa) Zeigler, South Carolina, Michelle (Eric) Zeigler, Boonville, Jim Snyder, Boonville, Steve (Kate) Snyder, Remsen, Brittaney (James) Alger, West Leyden, Ryan (Samantha) Zeigler, West Leyden, Ashley (John) Zeigler, Boonville and Justin Zeigler, Boonville and 18 great grandchildren. At the present time Weezie was joyfully anticipating the birth of her 19th great grandchild to be born in December. Also surviving is a daughter in law, Jeanie, Port Leyden, a sister in law, Sylvia Zeigler, Boonville and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Robert Hess, Bernard Hess and Joseph Hess, and a sister, Bernice Hess Treat. The Zeigler family wishes to express a special note of thanks and great appreciation to Karen Zeigler for the excellent care and compassion given to Wezzie in her time of need. In keeping with her wishes there will be no calling hours or services. A spring interment will be in Boonville Cemetery on Saturday, May 18, at 1:00 pm . Memorial contributions may be made to the Boonville Fire Department Ambulance Fund P.O. Box 164, Boonville, NY 13309, where her father, brother and two sons were very active members. Her arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
