Forestport - Louise C. Edick, 80, of State Route 28 and affectionately known as "Pete", passed away suddenly at her residence on Saturday, January 23, 2010. A native of the town of German Flatts, she was born on January 12, 1930 to William B. and Catherine (Mosher) Hunt, Sr. Louise grew up in Mohawk and attended local schools. Her first employment was at the former J.J. Newberry Co. five-and-ten store in Herkimer. On October 28, 1950 she was united in marriage with Paul Bernard Edick in Mohawk. The couple made their home in Otter Lake. While living there she was employed at the former Rice Veneer Mill in McKeever. In 1956 the couple moved to their present home on Route 28 where she operated "Budï¿(TM)s Dog House", a popular hot dog and Mexican hot stand. Louise was employed at the former Poland Lumber Co. prior to working at Marcy State Hospital from where she retired in 1989 following twenty years of service. At the time of her retirement she was manager of the facility commissary department. Mr. Edick died on June 9, 1986. Mrs. Edick was of the Methodist faith. The joy of her life was painting with watercolors, painting on saws, painting pictures of nature and country-western recording artists. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. She is survived by a daughter and grandson, Janelle K. Kranbuhl and Christopher Kranbuhl of Alder Creek, brothers and sisters George (Gladys) Hunt of Fly Creek, Anna Soposki of Jordanville, Betty Smith of Herkimer, William (Barbara) Hunt, Jr. of Mohawk, Jean (Bob) Mang of Richfield Springs., and Russell (Marianne) Hunt of Jordanville. She was predeceased by a brother, Lester, and two sisters, Nancy Mitchell and Dorothy Hunt. She is also survived by her beloved Siamese cat, "Racie". In keeping with her wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services. Interment at a time and date to be announced will be in Beechwood Cemetery in Forestport.
