Boonville- Lorraine D. (Hoffman) McCanney, 69, of Jackson Hill Road, widow of Donald, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013, at Bay State Medical Center, Springfield, MA, after a long illness. She was born in Port Leyden, on February 21, 1944, a daughter of Kenneth and Pearl Kiser Hoffman, and received her education at Port Leyden High School. On July 3, 1965, Lorraine was united in marriage with Donald J. McCanney; after that the couple lived on Mohawk Hill, near Constableville. For forty years she was employed as a seamstress at Lally Manufacturing Co. of Port Leyden; after that company closed she was employed for a time at Johnstown Knitting Mill in Glenfield. During the 1980'she and Don operated Don's Country Store in Talcottville, where they also lived. Later they moved to West Road in the Town of Leyden, before she moved to her present home near Boonville. Mr. McCanney, a Navy Seaman in the Korean Conflict, and a retired heavy equipment operator, died on January 3, 1997. Mrs. McCanney was of the Catholic Faith and a member of Charles J. Love Post American Legion Ladies Auxiliary of Boonville. She loved to play cards. She is survived by one daughter and son in law, Rebecca and James Jackson, two sons and a daughter in law, James J, and Randall J. and Jeannine, all of Boonville, five granddaughters, Brittany and Nichole Jackson (Lee Kraeger) Ashley (Andrew Clement) Erika and Mikayla McCanney, two great granddaughters, Aerilyn and Sophie, two great grandsons, Olin and Nolan, and her special friend, Walt Bickford, Boonville; two brothers, Gary (Theresa) Hoffman, Port Leyden, Richard Hoffman, Lowville; and one sister, Diane (Tom) LaQuay, Stittville, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, James Hoffman; and sisters, Linda, and twins Jean Hoffman and Jane Manning. Her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 9:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville, with Rev. Sean Patrick O'Brien, as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Constableville. Calling hours are Thursday 5-8 P.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
