Loretta E. Bourgeois

Loretta E. (Seelman) Bourgeois, 80, a long time resident of Summit St. widow of Joseph J. Bourgeois, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at St. Lukeï¿(TM)s Memorial Hospital in New Hartford. A native of the Mohawk Hill area, Loretta was born on December 29, 1925, a daughter of Andrew and Effie Goodhines Seelman. She grew up on Mohawk Hill, and on November 13, 1943, Loretta was united in marriage with Joseph J. Bourgeois at St. Maryï¿(TM)s Church in Constableville. After their marriage they lived in the West Leyden area, purchasing the George Bourgeois farm in 1950, which was located on Rt. 26 south of West Leyden. The couple operated this farm until 1966. Mr. Bourgeois died on April 11, 1967, and in 1968, Loretta sold the farm and moved to Boonville. She was a member of St. Josephï¿(TM)s Church, Boonville. Loretta loved life, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed walking. Her family members include two sons: Jerome J. Bourgeois and wife Mary of Boonville, Lawrence J. Bourgeois and wife Bonnie of Cleveland, NY; three daughters: Evelyn B. Kellogg and husband Charles of Dickinson, TX, Cynthia M. Zeigler and husband Larry of Boonville, Sharon M. Schoff and fianc Randy Garrison of Castorland; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother: Andrew Seelman and Betty; one sister: Rosemary and Jim Dolan, all of Boonville; several nieces and nephews; and very close family friends in the Edward Cihocki family. Loretta was predeceased by a sister, Helen Seelman on October 5, 1992. A prayer service will be Monday at 9:15 am at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St., and at 10 am at St. Josephï¿(TM)s Church, both in Boonville, where Rev. Fr. Donald H. Karlen, Pastor will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden. Calling hours are Saturday 7-9 P.M. and Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Boonville Fire Dept. Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 164, Boonville, NY 13309.
