Loren H. Sullivan

Port Leyden - Loren H. Sullivan, 77, of South Elm Street. a retired dairy farmer, passed away at his residence on Monday, April 13, 2009. A native of Highmarket, he was born on March 8, 1932 to William and Agnes Hoffert Sullivan. He grew up in Constableville and Talcottville, and attended rural schools in the Boonville area. Mr. Sullivan was a self-employed logger for most of his life and worked throughout the northeastern United States. He also owned and operated a dairy farm and Sullivan Bros. Sales and Service in Port Leyden for several years. On October 27, 1950, Mr. Sullivan was united in marriage with Shirley Weber at St. Joseph's Church in Boonville. The couple made their home on South Elm Street. Mrs. Sullivan died on April 22, 1994. He was of the Catholic faith, a former member of J.S. Koster Hose Co. and served on committees for the purchase of the first ambulance for the fire department and to raise funds for the current fire hall. He is survived by three sons and four daughters-in-law, John and Ellen of Port Leyden, Patrick and Cathie of Constableville, Paul and Lorraine of Port Leyden, and Patti of Constableville. He was predeceased by a son, Robert, on September 20, 2008. Also surviving are five daughters and sons-in-law. Katrina and Arthur Brownell of Boonville, Sidnee and Lewis Holland of Port Leyden, Alicia and Lewis Arthur of Lyons Falls, Hope and Patrick Croneiser of Port Leyden, and Faith Sullivan and Adrian Stinebrickner of Constableville; twenty-four grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Irvin of Boonville, and Percy and Irma of Port Leyden; and one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Willard Thayer of Boonville. He was predeceased by three brothers, Patrick, Robert, and Edward. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside committal service on Friday, April 24, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Constableville. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, Inc., P.O. Box 266, Lowville, New York 13367. Arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville.
