Constableville- Leslie F. Ottman, 92, of North Main St., husband of the late Anna, passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, where he had resided since August, 2018. Leslie was born in Vernon, on July 20, 1926, where he grew up and received his education. He served his country in the US Navy, in the Pacific Theater of WWII, receiving an honorable discharge in August, 1946, with the rank of Fireman Second Class. Thereafter, Mr. Ottman was employed for Triple C Construction Co. of Canastota, on farms in the Durhamville area and he also operated a milk route in Madison County. In 1958, Leslie was united in marriage with Anna Higby; in the early 1970s the couple moved to Constableville, purchasing the former Jedrich Dairy Farm on North Main St, which he operated until 1986, when he sold the dairy. For many years Mr. Ottman was known as Les The Old Tire man of Constableville, selling and repairing tires at his home. Mrs. Ottman passed away April 4, 2007. From 1995, until 2017, he enjoyed assisting in the operation of the Cummings Farm, Turin. He is survived by sisters in law, Margaret Northrup, Carolyn (James) Ankin, all of Lowville, Mary Lou Randall, Blossvale; brothers in law, Myles (Roxie) Higby, Boonville, Robert (Rita) Higby, West Leyden, John Higby, Constableville and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are his close friends, Robert and Becky Cummings and their family, Turin and Allen and Beth Filey and their children, of New London and other special friends. He was predeceased by brothers in law, Karl, Raymond and LeRoy Higby. Services will be held in the spring at St. Patricks Cemetery, Constableville. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Constablville Fire Company Fire and Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 438, Constableville, NY 13325. Arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. Boonville.
