Leroy H. Kohler

December 3, 1935 — February 1, 2021

Boonville- Roy H. Kohler, of 115 South St, formerly of Whittaker Road, Holland Patent, and husband of the late Bertha, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica, after a brief illness. He was born in Greig, on December 3, 1935, a son of Edward F. and Adeline Manzer Kohler. Roy grew up in Greig and received his education in Greig and at Glenfield. Later he lived in Boonville and was employed at Sergeant's Chair Factory and at Olney Failing Lumber Co. He was also employed at the Whittlesy Dairy Farm, Greig. For many years Mr. Kohler operated a dairy farm on the Whittaker Road, where he continued to live for several years after he retired. On April 16, 1960, he was united in marriage with Bertha M. Dillenback at the Lowville Methodist Church. She died on August 21; 2006, after that Mr. Kohler moved to his present home at Kortenaer Village, Boonville. Mr. Kohler had attended the Boonville United Methodist Church. He was a naturally talented engine mechanic; there was not a motor or engine that he could not repair. He greatly enjoyed working on automobile, trucks, tractors and small engines. Roy is survived by one son and daughter in law, John and Mary Kohler, Richfield Springs; five grandchildren, Leonard Dillenbeck, Jr, Wendy, Trina, John Jr. and Jennifer; one sister, Beverly Kohler, Boonville; two half-sisters, Marjorie Handcock, Lowville, Iva Hellinger, Westernville; one half brother, William Tuttle, Lowville; his favorite niece and nephew, Patty Carpenter and Michael Biro and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother, Robert Kohler. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Friday, May 14, 2021, at 1:00 P.M. at Boonville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Central Association for the Blind, 507 Kent St. Utica, NY 13501.
