Leonard F. "Len" Dillenbeck, 59, of Whittaker Road, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January 10, 2008, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica. Len was born February 19, 1949 in Utica. A son of Roy H. and Bertha M. Dillenbeck Kohler, he graduated from Holland Patent High School with the Class of 1966. During the Viet Nam War Len served in the U.S. Army in Korea. After Viet Nam he moved to Virginia and worked as an auto mechanic, before moving to Prospect in 1980 and Holland Patent in 1982. He was united in marriage with Judi Jassak in 1982, they later separated. Len had been employed by Howard Darling, Dolgeville, as a logger until a logging accident in January 1986 forced him to retire. Len loved his children and grandsons. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, the outdoors, horses, working on cars and racing cars, and off-roading with trucks. In addition to his father Roy Kohler of Holland Patent he is survived by two daughters: Tina Lamaitis, her husband Matt and their children Tyler and Austin of Westmoreland, and Wendi Dillenbeck, her husband Isidro Rosado and the "Tow Jo"s Gordo and Isidro Jr. of Utica; one son: Leonard F. "Bud" Dillenbeck II and his wife Stephanie of Clayville; one brother: John Kohler, his wife Mary and their children Jennifer and Little John of Richfield Springs; and many cousins. His mother Bertha died on August 21, 2006. The funeral service for Len will be at 6 pm Sunday at the Trainor Funeral Home, 143 Schuyler St., Boonville. Interment with Military Honors will be in the spring in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 3 to 6 pm Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 356 North Midler Avenue, Syracuse, NY 13206.
