Lee Center - Leona G. Dolan, 86, formerly of the Lee Center-Taberg Road, passed away after a long illness on Saturday, August 14, 2010, at Stonehedge Nursing Care Facility, Rome, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Greig on August 10, 1924, a daughter of Claude and Minnie (Marry) Olmstead. Leona attended school in Greig, and on March 17, 1942, she was united in marriage with Francis D. Dolan at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Highmarket. Later the couple lived at West Lee Corners for twenty six years. Mr. Dolan, a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and employee of Rome Iron Mills, died in 1992. Leona is survived by six children, Rosemary Dolan of Lyons Falls, David Dolan and his wife, April, and Bernard Dolan, all of Lee Center; Patrick Dolan and his wife, Susan of Westernville, Philip Dolan of Boonville, and Patricia Dolan and her companion, David Sherwood of Taberg; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; a very special grandson, David A. Dolan, Jr. and his companion, Rachel Darling of Westernville; and two special grandsons, Michael of FL and Lance of Oneida. She was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara J. Bruno, of Ashville, NC, on August 12, 2010, and by a son, Francis R. in 1967. Her grandson and his companion, David A., Jr. and Rachael, gave Leona their special love and care while employed at Stonehedge. Her family extends a special thank you to the entire staff of Wing 2 at Stonehedge Nursing Home. Funeral services are Thursday at 1:00 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville, where Rev. Donald H. Karlen will officiate. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Town of Lee. Visitation is Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, Oneida/Herkimer Branch Office, 100 Lomond Place, Utica, NY 13502.
