Lowville- Leo V. McKenny, Jr. 69, of South State St. passed away in the comfort of his home, care giver, Barbara and Hospice, on Sunday, September 18, 2022.
Leo was born in Patterson, NJ, on August 8, 1953, a son of Leo and Emma Janette Bott McKenny, Sr. He graduated from Butler High School, Butler, NJ and afterwards attended and graduated from Utica School of Commerce, Oneonta, NY. Later for several years Leo was employed as a Front Desk Clerk at Long Fellows Hotel and Restaurant, Saratoga Springs, NY. Prior to moving to Lowville, in 2017, Mr. McKenny resided on Mechanic Street, Port Leyden.
Leo was a former caretaker at the Holy Trinity Monastery, Jordanville, where he maintained the church and cemetery. He enjoyed baking, his Russian Orthodox faith, sharing wisdom and he was very patriotic. At one time Mr. McKenny was a volunteer firefighter for the City of Oneonta.
He is survived by fiancée and companion, Barbara Miller; two daughters, Belinda McKenny and Nina McKenny; one son, Paul McKenny; grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Jeannette McKenny and a nephew. He was predeceased by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Services will be on Friday, September 23, 2022, at 1:00 P.M., at Holy Trinity Monastery, 1407 Robinson Road, Jordanville, NY 13361, with interment to follow in the Monastery Cemetery, also in Jordanville. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of Lewis County Hospice, P.O. Box 266, Lowville, New York 13367, Lewis County Humane Society P.O. Box 682, Lowville, NY 13367 or Lewis County Search and Rescue. His arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. Boonville.
