Lyons Falls- Leo A. Rogers, 66, a longtime resident of Shibley Road, husband of Bette, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville, after a long illness. Leo was born in Port Leyden, on February 12, 1951, a son of Alton and Nora Greene Rogers. He began his education at the Gould Town Rural School, Town of Lyonsdale, before completing his education at Port Leyden Central School, later earning his GED. For several years Mr. Rogers was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the Village of Lyons Falls Street Department and he was also employed at Dolhof Hardware, Lyons Falls. On May 6, 1972, Leo was united in marriage with Bette L. Kohl, at Pilgrim Holiness Church, Port Leyden. Leo greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and playing guitar. In addition to his wife, Bette, he is survived by four sons and daughters in law, Shawn and Susan Rogers, Port Leyden, Shane and Shelly Rogers, Lyons Falls, Jeremy and Tammy Rogers, Port Leyden and Joshua and Reena Rogers, Port Leyden; eighteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; his siblings, Sally Swiernik, Port Leyden, Wayne Rogers, Watson, Johnney (Deborah) Rogers, Port Leyden, Gary Rogers, TN and Ricky Rogers, Camden. He was predeceased by brothers, Gordon and Freddy. His Funeral will be Wednesday at 12:30 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, with interment in the spring in Wildwood Cemetery, Lyons Falls. Calling hours are Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association 120 Lomond Court, Utica, NY 13502. There will be a continued celebration of his life at the Port Leyden Fire Hall following the funeral services on Wednesday.
