~~Forestport- Lawrence Lash, 84, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 5, 2017 at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Larry (affectionately known as Uncle Boo) was born in Utica in 1933, son of the late Joseph Lash and Julia (Kudla) Lash Jarosz. He received his education at Utica Free Academy, Class of 1951. During his youth, Larry was honored with the Utica Golden Gloves award for Boxing. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1952, was a veteran of the Korean War and was honorably discharged. While serving in the Navy, Larry was very proud to take part in the funding and construction of an orphanage in Italy. On August 3, 1957, Lawrence was united in marriage with Ann Frances Murphy at St. Francis DeSales Church, Utica. They were married for 60 years and blessed with a large family. Larry was employed with Special Metals for 28 years. Larry had a love for fishing, camping and had a favorite spot on the Black River at the bottom of Lyons Falls. He had an incredible sweet tooth, and enjoyed the company of his fur baby Trixie. Lawrence is survived by his wife Ann, daughters: Sandra Myers, New Hartford, Jean (Kevin) Ingalls, West Winfield, Joann (Todd) Everett, Virginia, Lauri (Ray) Rowlands-Goppert, Rome, Mary (Tim) Bailey, North Carolina, Julie (Scott) Sullivan, West Winfield; sons: Lawrence of Madison and William, Westmoreland, 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters: Linda (Duane) Rogers, West Winfield, Charlene (Victor) Perun, Guilderland, and a brother James (Carol) Jarosz, Watertown. He was predeceased by his step-father Casimir Jarosz, his sister Frances Ancone and her husband Joseph, brothers, Rev. Theodore Gene Lash, Paul Francis Jarosz, and a great-grandson Shane Nichols. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 9, beginning with a prayer service at 12:00 noon at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 pm at St. Patricks Church, Forestport. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Patricks Cemetery, Forestport. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon at the funeral home.
