Boonville - Lawrence E. (Larry) Dexter, 75, of Ford Street and formerly of Elizabethtown, PA (Lancaster County) passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2009, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, New Hartford, after a brief illness. Mr. Dexter had resided in Utica for many years while employed as a meat cutter by Acme Markets. He was born in Lowville on January 2, 1934, to Floyd G. and Louise Dugas Dexter. Larry grew up in Port Leyden, where he graduated from high school with the Class of 1953. During his high school years he excelled at playing basketball and baseball. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 1953 and served his country during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge in 1956. He was later employed as a security guard at Manheim Auto Auction Co., Manheim, PA. Mr. Dexter had attended St. Martin's Catholic Church, Port Leyden, and was a member of Charles J. Love Post American Legion, Boonville. He greatly enjoyed bowling, and was especially endeared to his three pet cats. He was married to Phyllis Cittadino, and the couple later divorced. On January 31, 1987, Larry was married to Jeanette F. Good in Marcy, NY. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Dee and Craig Gray, Deerfield, and Kim and Chriss Millington, Frankfort; four sons and one daughter-in-law, Larry, Jr., North Utica, Joseph, Utica, David and Laura Dexter, Cold Brook, and Robbie Kreimeyer, Ore City, TX; ten grandchildren, Josh Rissler, Albany, Megan Rissler and Jillian Gray, both of Deerfield, Austin and Karlie Dexter, both of Cold Brook, Christopher and Connor Millington, both of Frankfort, Brandon Good, Elizabethtown, PA, and Elizabeth and Preston Kreimeyer, both of Ore City, TX; two step-sons and a step-daughter-in-law, Stephen Good, Elizabethtown, PA, and Kevin and Nid-Noy Good, Sterling, VA; a sister, Cherie Mashaw, Boonville; and a brother and sister-in-law, Lowell and Elaine Dexter, Port Leyden. His funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday (tomorrow) at 1:00 p.m. at St. Martin's Church, Port Leyden, where the Reverend Stephen Gratto will officiate. Spring interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden. Visitation is Monday from 10:00 a.m. until noon at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville.
