Boonville - Laura N. Tuttle, 84, formerly of Taberg and Utica, passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2010 at Rome Memorial Hospital. Prior to entering the hospital, she had resided at Sunset Nursing & Rehabiliation Center in Boonville for the past two years. Mrs. Tuttle was born in Hawkinsville on April 22, 1925, a daughter of Mirt and Mary (Zabinski) Dillenbeck. Her youth was spent in Hawkinsville where she attended a one room school and later completed her education at Boonville High School. On July 4, 1944 she was married to William A. Biro at St. Martin's Church in Port Leyden. The couple lived in the vicinity of Penny Settlement, moving to the Biro homestead farm on the Gleasman Road in 1953. The couple later divorced. In 1967 she was married to Richard Tuttle. The couple lived at Burdick's Crossing prior to divorcing. Laura lived in Old Forge for nearly twenty years and was employed as a housekeeper by the Adirondack League Club. She moved to Utica and was employed as a housekeeper at several motels before eventually retiring from the Happy Journey Motel. For the past five years, she had made her home with her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Jean Biro. Mrs. Tuttle was of the Catholic faith, and had attended St. Joseph's Church in Boonville. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed crossword puzzles. She is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bill Biro, and Mike and Jean Biro, and a daughter, Patty Carpenter, all of Boonville; nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Roy Kohler; and a special friend, Matilda Biro of Boonville. She was pre-deceased by a great-granddaughter, Kayla Biro, and by three sisters, Leona Smith, Irene Premo and Bertha Kohler. Laura's family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to the C-Wing at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for their kind loving care; and also a thank you to the ER staff at Rome Memorial Hospital. Her funeral will be Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street in Boonville, where the Rev'd Sean Patrick O'Brien, pastor of St. Joseph's Church will officiate. Interment will be in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours will commence two hours prior to the funeral.
