Brantingham- Lance W. Conant, 44, residing on North Shore Road, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, March 5, 2021. Lance was born in Syracuse, NY, on September 14, 1976, the son of Luther and Barbara Berner Conant. He grew up in the Fayetteville area, playing 4 years of varsity soccer for Fayettville-Manlius High School. He also played spring lacross for Jamesville Dewitt High School, and graduated in 1995 from Jamesville Dewitt. Lance attended Virginia Wesleyan College for 2 years, and played varsity soccer. Lance entered the US Army, serving his country as a Combat Medic in Afghanistan. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to central NY and became involved in restaurant management. He most recently owned and operated Mama Mia's Italian Restaurant in Port Orange, FL Lance had a great love for the outdoors-he and his dog, Scubba Steve, hiked the Appalachian Trail for 6 weeks in Georgia and the Carolinas. Lance always loved boating and fishing. While growing up, he spent his summers on Brantingham Lake. He became an accomplished water skier and wake boarder, mastering the 360-degree flip. At the time of his death, he was renting a cabin on the lake-a place he loved the best. Lance is survived by his father, Luther Conant and step mother, Donna Conant, of Ormond Beach, Florida, his mother, Barbara Ballway of Daytona Beach, Florida, his half-brother, Cory Conant of Ormond Beach and half-brother Bryce Ballway of Manlius, NY. He is also survived by his step brother, Phillip Martin of Laguna Hills, CA, his step sister, Marnie Powers of Gloucester, Mass., and many nieces and nephews. A private family service will be held at Brantinham Lake this summer. Cards may be sent to Luther and Donna Conant, 8 Bent Stream Way, Ormond Beach, Florida, 32174 and Barbara Ballway at 719 So. Beach St. # 204B, Daytona Beach, Florida, 32114. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Lance's name to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516, or to an SPCA. His arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. Boonville, NY.
