Kevin G. McDermott, 50, of Fairchild Road, died on Sunday, March 12, 2006, at the Siegenthaler Center, New Hartford. Kevin graduated from Remsen High School with the Class of 1974, and then from SUNY Institute of Technology, earning a Bachelors Degree. For three years, Kevin was employed as a policeman for the Village of Lowville. After that he began his career with Niagara Mohawk Power Co., at the present time being employed as an electric lineman for National Grid Power Co. at Old Forge. He was a life member and faithful Altar Boy of St. Patrickï¿(TM)s Church, Forestport, and a member of IBEW Union Local # 97, of Syracuse. During his leisure time he enjoyed touring the Adirondacks on his Harley. In addition to his parents, Michael W. and Marion E. (Hemrich,) McDermott, of Remsen, Kevin is survived by two brothers; Michael B., Timothy W., and wife, Gerry, one sister; Mary E. Jenny, and husband, James, nieces, and nephews; and a dear friend, Debbie Cotton, Remsen, who has been constantly at his side during his battle with cancer. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, at 12 Noon at St. Patrickï¿(TM)s Church, Forestport, where Rev. Fr. Donald H. Karlen, Pastor will officiate. A spring interment will be in Fairchild Cemetery, Remsen. There is no calling hours, however his family will greet relatives and friends at St. Patrickï¿(TM)s Church at the conclusion of the Mass. Flowers are gratefully declined instead memorial contributions may be made to Siegenthaler Center 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413, or to St. Patrickï¿(TM)s Church, Forestport. Funeral arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., Boonville.
