Kevin C. Moon

Woodgate- Kevin C. Moon, 56, life resident of Woodgate and husband of Mary Ellen, passed away at his Woodgate homestead, on Friday, June 15, 2018. Kevin was born in Constableville, on September 4, 1961, a son of Eldridge G., and Eleanor (Moon) Moon. He received his education at the Bear Creek Road Woodgate School, later graduating from Town of Webb High School, Old Forge, Class of 1978. Thereafter Mr. Moon served his country in the US Army; while in the service he received a certificate as a Diesel Engineer Technician. After his honorable discharge from the army, Mr. Moon was employed as a truck driver in lumber delivery for H.R. Myers Lumber Co. Inc., Boonville, from 1987, until the company closed in 2004. His last employment was for various concerns in the Boonville area. On October 31, 1987, Kevin was united in marriage with Mary Ellen Stringer, at Avon Park, Florida. Afterwards the couple lived in Rt. 12 in Port Leygen, before returning to the Moon homestead in Woodgate Corners. Kevin will be fondly remembered as a big man with a gentle spirit who loved nature and being in the woods. He was a member of Abundant Life Fellowship Church, Boonville, the North America Hunting Club and he greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife, Mary Ellen, Kevin is survived by one son, Jared T. Moon, Woodgate, two grandchildren, Hunter Matthew Lawrence Moon, whom Kevin adored and spent much time with and Caden Alexander Willis; one brother, Keith (Jeannie) Moon, North Pole, Alaska and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents; Eldridge, in 2000, and Eleanor, in 2015. Funeral Services will be Thursday at 4:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where calling hours are from 1:00 P.M. until the funeral. Interment will be in Woodgate Cemetery, with military rites rendered from Charles J. Love Post American Legion, Harland J. Hennessey Post V.F.W. and the Tun Tavern Marine Corps League, all of Boonville. Memorial contributions may be made to The Woodgate Free Library, PO Box 52, Woodgate, NY 13494.
