Kathleen N. Fitzgerald

Constableville- Kathleen Norton Fitzgerald, 77, of West Road, passed away after a long illness, at her residence, on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, while surrounded the loving care of friends and family. Kathleen was predeceased by her father, Curtis, her mother, Mildred, her brother John and her husband, Patrick. She was born on October 13, 1944, in the Town of Boonville, a daughter of Curtis J. and Mildred Myers Norton. Kathleen grew up in Constableville and graduated from Constableville High School, with The Class of 1962. Afterwards she attended Ellis Hospital School of Nursing, Schenectady, graduating with the Class of 1965, earning her Registered Nurse Degree. Mrs. Fitzgerald was employed as a Registered Nurse at Marcy Psychiatric Center, Marcy, NY, Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville, as a school nurse at South Lewis Junior and Senior High School, Turin, before retiring from employment for Lewis County Office of the Aging, where she was employed as a case manager. Throughout her nursing career, Kathleen helped and gave support to many people and through those encounters, she made many lifelong friendships. On August 6, 1966, Kathleen married John S. Knollman, in Lyons Falls and they had two children. On September 26, 1975, Kathleen married Patrick E. Fitzgerald and they had twin boys. Kathleen is survived by her children, Andrew J. Knollman and his wife, Kimberly, Glens Falls, NY; Laura M. Knollman (Sean Kelly), Glenrock, WY; Matthew C. Fitzgerald and his wife, Jessie, Brandon, FL and Mark P. Fitzgerald, Columbus, GA; her dear nephew, John P. Norton and his wife, Kim, of Maine and two great nephews. Also surviving are grandchildren and great grandchildren: Travis and Brandi Doner of Clintonville, NY Theodore Doner Jamie Snyder of Wyoming Savannah Lamb Amanda Knollman (Kenny Goldberg), of Pleasanton, CA Jonah and Myles Goldberg Jillian Wells (Carl Crasso), Titusville, FL Andrew Knollman (Fernanda Mendoza), Scottsdale, AZ Son, expected in July (Alonzo) Sarah Steinhauer of Alberta Canada Shea and Matilynn Fitzgerald, Brandon, FL Aubrey Kathleen Fitzgerald, of Columbus, GA. Kathleen enjoyed great support from her loving sisters in law; Sue and Mike Donnelly, Rome, Barb and Mike Fitzgerald, Boonville, Kathryn and Larry Mathis, Boonville, Joanne and Irv Sattler, Boonville, and Sandy Fitzgerald, Port Leyden. Kathleen's family wishes to extend a special note of thanks to her neighbor and dear friend, Susan LaRoy of Constableville and also to the staff and care providers from Lewis County Hospice, for the kind and compassionate care which they gave to Kathleen. In keeping with Kathleen's wishes, there will be no services or calling hours. A celebration of her life will be announced at a later date. With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away and although we love you dearly we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating hard working hands at rest.
