Remsen- Kathleen M. Lukaszek, 71, of Remsen, a former resident of Yorkville, and wife of John, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica. Kathleen was born in Utica, on June 13, 1951, a daughter of Reginald George and Thelma Mae Waddington Davis. She grew up on Elmwood Ave, Yorkville and graduated from Whitesboro High School, with the Class of 1969. Thereafter she was employed as a Certified Nurse Assistant at Utica area nursing homes, later transitioning to 20 years of employment for Upstate Cerebral Palsy of Utica, as a resident counselor. During her employment for U.C.P., Kathleen was on staff at the Trenton Road, I.R.A. (north Utica), facility and it was here that Kathleen’s talents and attributes of being a kind, compassionate and loving caregiver and person shone. For twenty years the Trenton Road I.R.A. became Kathleen’s second home and the residents became a part of her family. She often enjoyed entertaining the residents at picnics which she hosted at her residence. On May 16, 1970, Kathleen was united in marriage with John A. Lukaszek, at St. Paul’s Church, Whitesboro. Thereafter the couple lived in Elm St. Yorkville, until 1993, when they relocated to their home near Remsen. Mrs. Lukaszek attended St. Ann’s Church, Hinckley. She greatly enjoyed the outdoors and wild life, especially spending time in the sunshine. She was also an animal lover who had a tender heart for all animals and greatly enjoyed her canine companions. In addition to her husband, John, Kathleen is survived by her children, Kimberly (Ronald) Scouten, Forestport; Ryan (Melissa) Big Moose; grandchildren, Michael Scouten and Abigail Scouten, both of Forestport; one brother, Thomas (Judy) Davis, Whitesboro; sisters in law, Jacqueline Wojtanowski, Utica, Phylis (Carmen) Carzo, NY Mills, and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are special lifetime friends, Richard and Laurie Zerdecki and Sharon Wameling and her beloved canine companion, “Jackson.” She was predeceased by sisters, Bonnie Williams, Doris Trojan and a sister in law, Josephine Ryczek. Kathleen’s family extends a note of special thanks and appreciation to Dr. Mian and his staff at the Faxton Hemodialysis Unit and Dr. Carrillo and his staff for all of the compassion care which they gave to Kathleen over the years. Visitation hours are Saturday, July 23, 2022, from 10:00 A.M. until 12 Noon at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where a memorial service will begin at 12 Noon. Interment will be private in Beechwood Cemetery, Forestport, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made Upstate Cerebral Palsy, 125 Business Park Drive, Utica, NY 13502, specifically for the benefit of the Trenton Road I.R.A. Facility or to The Stevens Swan Humane Society, 5664 Horatio St. Utica, NY 13502. Private Interment Interment will be private at a later date in Beechwood Cemetery, Forestport, NY
