Boonville- Kathie A. (Pritchard) Schleicher, 62, of State Rt. 46, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2013, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, while surrounded by the loving care of her family, after a long and heroic battle with cancer,. She was born in Staten Island, NY, on December 30, 1950, a daughter of Maldwyn A. and Kathleen Johnson Pritchard. As a youth she moved to Boonville with her family and graduated from Adirondack High School, with the Class of 1970. Later she furthered her education by studying Culinary Arts, at MVCC, Utica. Her first employment was at Boonville Division of Ethan Allen Furniture Co. Kathie was a very talented seamstress and later she was employed as a seamstress, first at Kristin International Ski Clothing Co. of Turin, and then for many years at Central Adirondack Textiles Co, Boonville. For a time she was also employed as a Teachers Aid at Adirondack Central Middle School, Boonville; her last employment was as a Care Taker for the Adirondack League Club of Old Forge, and Honnendaga Lake. In addition to her great talents as a seamstress, Kathie was a very talented artist and greatly enjoyed creating pictures using many different kinds of paint. She loved cooking and baking, quilting, basket weaving, dress making and kayaking. She possessed a great affection for animals of all kinds, especially her cats and dogs. She was a Charter Member of Boonville Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, and had enjoyed activities at Dodge Pratt Northam Art and Community Center, Boonville. Kathie greatly loved her family and the time they spent together. She is survived by two sons, and one daughter in law, Jason M. Schleicher, Boonville, Steven (Kristen) Schleicher, Port Leyden; three grandchildren, Taylor, Valkyrie, and Killien; her father, Maldwyn A. Pritchard, Boonville; two sisters, Diane Venable, and Wendy (Dan) Kessler, all of Boonville. She was predeceased by her mother, Kathleen, on July 17, 2005. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Kathie's family joins in expressing their sincere and heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff and management of Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, for the tender loving care they rendered to Kathie during her stay at Sunset. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Sunday, December 15, from 1-5 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, with an informal gathering to follow at the Harland J. Hennessey Post V.F.W. Post on Park Ave. Boonville, to immediately follow the visitation. Interment will be in the spring in Fairchild Cemetery, Remsen.
