Boonville- Katherine L. (Millard) Aubel, 57, of Cone Road, wife of Douglas, passed away at her residence on Thursday, March 1, 2018, while surrounded by the loving care of her husband, family and hospice. Kathy had struggled with health issues for many years. Kathy was born in Lowville, on November 8, 1960, a daughter of Theodore Rutson and Mildred May Gilbert Millard. She grew up on the Swackhammer Hill Road, Turin, and graduated from South Lewis Senior High School, Class of 1979. Thereafter, Kathy furthered her education attending The Utica School of Commerce. She was employed at Lally Mfg. Co. Port Leyden, and served as a volunteer at Erwin Library, Boonville, and at General Martin School, Glenfield. Kathy shared 40 happy years with her husband, Douglas E. Aubel, whom she married on December 16, 1989, at Grunerts Camp, Croghan, where Lawrence Houppert officiated. The couple lived in Boonville, West Leyden and Turin, before moving to their present home in the Town of Leyden, in 2002. For many years Mrs. Aubel, was employed at her residence as a professional cake baker and decorator. Using her great baking talents she brightened the lives of many with her creative cakes for weddings, and all occasions. She also was very talented at making Ginger Bread houses and she greatly enjoyed cooking and gardening. Most of all, Kathy cherished her role as a loving wife, homemaker, mother and grandmother. Kathy was raised in the Christian Missionary and Alliance Church of Boonville; throughout her life, all who knew Kathy knew a heart full of love and a determination and fight to live. She enjoyed beauty, living and Kathy was very giving. She will be deeply missed. In addition to her husband, Doug, Kathy is survived by sons, Shawn Aubel, Brian Aubel, and his wife, Jessica Shonert Aubel; two grandchildren, Brianna and Hayden; her siblings, sister, Linda Millard; brothers Robert Millard and his wife, Debbie, David Millard and his wife, Sue, sisters; Carol Hotchkiss and husband David, Betty Krop and husband, Bo, and Gail Gordon and husband, Tom and a sister in law, Rebecca Millard. She was predeceased by a brother, Jerry Millard and a sister, Shirley Millard. Her Funeral will be Sunday at 4:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where calling hours are Sunday 1-4 P.M. at the funeral home.
