Lee Center - Karl W. Ruth, 74, of Weaver Road, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 17, 2016 while under the care of Hospice. Karl was born on October 26, 1941 in Rome, a son of Clarence and Edna Widrick Ruth. He was raised on the family farm on Flint Town Road, Ava and graduated from Boonville Central School, with the Class of 1960. Following graduation, Karl worked on the family farm. On January 24, 1963, he enlisted in the US Army, serving in Germany, until his honorable discharge on January 19, 1966. For many years Mr. Ruth was employed at Oneida Container, Co., Vernon, retiring as supervisor of personnel in 1999. A marriage to Eileen Tardbania, ended in divorce. Mr. Ruth enjoyed the time he spent hunting and fishing, and working in his vegetable garden. He is survived by one son Scott Ruth, Lee Center; a granddaughter, Machaela Wuethrich; his good friend John Tanner and his family, Boonville; siblings: James (Sally) Ruth, West Branch, Alice Knickerson, Lee Center, Donald Ruth, Rome, David Ruth, Taberg, Frances "Tillie" Bussey, Rome, and Betty Lutz, Taberg. He was predeceased by his sister Margaret "Peg" Edwards, and brothers Richard and Mark. His family expresses their special thanks to John and Christine Tanner for the exceptional friendship and care rendered to Karl, over the years and also including Douglas Howard and Rosanne Tanner. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 7 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where visitation hours will be Tuesday 5-7 p.m. Spring interment will be in Ava Cemetery with military honors from Charles J. Love Post American Legion, Harland J. Hennessey Post VFW and Tun Tavern Marine Corps League. Memorial contributions may be made to Adirondack Wrestling Club, C/O P.O Box 196, Boonville, NY 13309.
