Talcottville - Karl T. Marsden, 77, formerly of State Route 12D, passed away on Friday, June 4, 2010, at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Boonville, surrounded by the loving care of his family. Mr. Marsden had resided at the nursing home since 2007. He was born on May 15, 1933, a son of Russell and Vida (Rowsam) Marsden. Karl received his education at the Talcottville Rural School. He worked as a logger for several years following school. On July 4, 1980, Mr. Marsden was united in marriage with Stella A. "Pep" (Cihocki) at the Talcottville United Methodist Church. For several years Karl and Pep operated Hendles Hotel in Lyons Falls, then from 1984-1989 the couple operated Karl & Peps Tavern in Talcottville. Karl also worked for several years as a milk truck driver for Jaeger Trucking Co. of Utica. Mrs. Marsden died on March 12, 2002. Karl greatly enjoyed woodworking. He will be fondly remembered for the unique clocks, ornamental wooden shelves, toys, and lawn furniture that he constructed in his home woodshop. Karl is survived by seven step-children, Penny (Bruce) Emerson of Turin, Doug (Cindy) Nellenback, Tim Nellenback, Steve Nellenback, and Janice (Duane) Roberts, all of West Leyden, Julie (Gary) Moscicki of Boonville, and Jolene Sullivan and her fianc, Shawn Seelman of Constableville; two daughters, Barb Rogers of Rome, and Debra Worcester of TX; a brother, Kenny; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a granddaughter. His funeral will be Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville, where the Rev'd William A. Mudge, pastor of Boonville United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday 2-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
