Lowville - Karl Sanford Williamson, 81, of State Route 812, passed away on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare, New Hartford.
Karl was born on February 23, 1942 in Boonville, a son of Leo and Elizabeth Gillette Williamson. In his youth and following his graduation from Boonville Central School, he assisted his father in the operation of the family dairy farm on Potato Hill.
Karl was united in marriage with Bernice Pate, and the couple settled in Croghan where they resided for many years. He was a longtime employee and retired from Kraft Foods in Lowville. Karl enjoyed many outdoor hobbies including fishing and going for rides on his motorcycle. He also enjoyed country western music and going to many dances throughout the north country. Mrs. Williamson passed away on April 24, 2000.
He is survived by his sister Lillian Joslin, Boonville, many nieces and nephews, and his companion Lori Frabourgair. Besides his wife he was predeceased by his brothers: Clarence, Harold, Leo, Charles, and Roy.
In keeping with Karl’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
He has generously donated his body to the anatomical gift program at SUNY Upstate Medical University. Relatives and friends are invited to graveside services on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 11:00 am at St. Stephens Cemetery, Croghan. Memorial contributions may be made to Lewis County Humane Society, P.O. Box #682, Lowville, New York 13367.
