June L. Jenks

December 20, 1951 — February 16, 2021

June L. Jenks Boonville- June Leichty Jenks, 90, of Boonville, NY, wife of Harry, passed away on Feb. 16, 2021, while under care at the Sunset Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center in Boonville, NY. June Rosalie Leichty was born on June. 24, 1930 a daughter of Jacob & Ella Rowsam Leicthy in Constableville NY and grew up on the family farm located on Route 12D. After graduating from Boonville High School in 1948, June went on to nursing school where she became a registered nurse upon graduation in 1951. It was at Boonville High School where June met Harry Jenks, and they were wed on Dec. 20 1951. Their marriage lasted almost 70 years and was one of love, trust and adventure. June and Harry together raised four children, Mark (Janis), Tucson, AZ, Lori (Randy), Waterport, NY, Steve (Sandi), Baldwinsville, NY and Bruce, Sherrill, NY. June enjoyed being around children of all ages, but especially loved her grandchildren, Leigh Ann, Ashley, Meredith, Cory, Josh, David and Mitchell. June also had nine great grandchildren who she doted on and made sure they were always happy. Besides her children, June is also survived by her sisters Marion Carpenter and Irene (Joseph) Grenier, brother-in-law John Smith and sister-in-law Barbara Leichty. She also has a number cousins, nieces and nephews who have survived her. She was predeceased by her husband Harry, her sisters, Evelyn DeVoe, Irma Berger, Francis Burki , Doris Casamento, Rita Shanks, Noreen Smith, brothers William and Walter Leichty and granddaughter Jamie Jenks Long. June worked as a registered nurse both at Norwich Chenago Memorial Hospital for three years and Rome Memorial Hospital for over 30 years. Her work did not end there however as she raised her four children, taking them to school functions, sports practices and making sure they grew up to be responsible and respectable citizens. She was involved within the Boonville community, volunteering to organize and run the Boonville Little League food stand for many years. June enjoyed baking, gardening, reading and watching her children in the many sports they participated in throughout the years. She was a compassionate and caring soul and will be missed dearly by all of those who knew her. Funeral Services will be Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 12 Noon at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, with interment to follow in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours are Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 10:00 A.M. until 12 Noon at the funeral home. A memorial contribution may be made to the Boonville Ambulance. June's children would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to both Larry Zeigler and Bambi Freeman for their help in caring for and looking after June for the past year and a half.
