Talcottville - Julia Joy Mooney, 86, widow of Lyle, passed into the presence of the Lord on October 27, 2021 at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, Rome, where she had resided since February 2020. Julia was born at the family home on Erwin St., Boonville, on December 30, 1934 the daughter of William Francis and Julia Veronica Raymond Breen. Julia was united in marriage with Lyle R. Mooney on August 7, 1954 at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville. The couple settled on the West Road, near Talcottville, where they operated a dairy farm, before moving to her present home on State Route 12D in 1967. Mr. Mooney passed away on March 27, 1986. The cornerstone of Julia's life was the love of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was a very active member of the Living Waters Assembly of God Church. Through the years she had taught Sunday School, served on the church board, also as secretary/treasurer of woman's ministries, and was the meal planner for church gatherings. Julia was also employed locally as a cook at North West Passage, Lewis County General Hospital, and Snow Ridge Ski Area. For 20 plus years Julia volunteered as a Senior Companion with Turin ARC, and for several years ran an adult home at her residence in Talcottville. Julia is survived by her son: Ronald (Toni) Mooney, Port Leyden, daughters: Rosemary J. Mooney, Talcottville, Veronica M. (Robert) Weiss, Herkimer, and Barbara Miller (Leo McKenny), Lowville, granddaughter: Emily Weiss (Andrew Cosme), Herkimer, and great-granddaughter Kinsley Cosme. Besides her husband Lyle, Julia was predeceased by her infant twin sons: Larry and Jerry, and her brothers: Dennis, Brian, Kenneth, and Leslie. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 4, at 11:00 am at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Rev. Bill McLoughlin will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boonville. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-6 pm at the funeral home, and again on Thursday from 10 am until the service.
