Talcottville - Judith K. Schirber, 85, wife of Walter, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021 at Lewis County General Hospital, while surrounded by her loving family. Judy was born on February 2, 1936 in Shamokin, PA, a daughter of Jacques and Eleanor Agor Kleese. Her younger years were spent in Shamokin, before her family moved to Queens, NY, where she was a graduate of P.S. #19 with the Class of 1952. She then continued her education attaining her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Muhlenberg College, Allentown, PA. She began her employment as a physical therapist for the State Hospital in Allentown. On November 19,1965, Judith was united in marriage with Walter Schirber and the couple settled in Freehold, NJ, where Judy was then employed as a physical therapist for the Marlboro State Hospital, Marlboro, NJ. The couple relocated to Talcottville, NY, where they raised their daughter Christina, and have since lived. Mrs. Schirber has had a lifelong interest and love for working dogs. As a family, many happy and cherished memories were made attending competitive dog shows, confirmation shows, obedience, and also dog sledding competitions with the families Samoyed dogs. Judy also worked as a contributing editor for the "The Bulletin", the magazine publication of the Samoyed Club of America, a contributing editor for "Northern Dog News", and also as the editor for more than 25 years for the "Yapper" the publication of the Organization for the Working Samoyed. Judy also enjoyed antiques and finding treasures at many shops and shows through the years. Besides her husband Walter of Talcottville, Judy is survived by her daughter Christina (John) Gates, and her grandchildren Evalyn, Lydia and Nathan, all of Remsen; her sisters: Melissa (Rick) Lee, Emmaus, PA, Elizabeth Kleese, San Diego, CA, and Deborah Kleese (Dave Litzenberg) Ely, MN, nices and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, November 5, 2021 at 12:00 Noon at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, followed by interment in Boonville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10am until the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Judy's favorite animal organization, the Morris Animal Fund at their website www.morrisanimalfoundation.org.
