Turin, Formerly of Utica- Josephine Krop was born in Probizhna, Ukraine, in 1927. She was lovingly known as Bunia by her family. During WW II, she fled to Salzburg, Austria, with her sister's family. There she received an education in business, at a school established at a refugee camp. She married Walter Krop in 1947, in Salzburg. They immigrated together to the United States, in 1949, where they made their first home in St. Johnsville, New York. Their first son Bohdan Krop was born in Little Falls, in 1952. Shortly after they moved to Utica, where they became members of St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Catholic Church, on Cottage Place. Their second son Roman was born in 1955. Her beloved husband, Walter Krop died on January 21, 2003. She resided independently after her husband's death until 2019. She then blessed the home of her son, Bohdan and daughter in law, Betty Krop in Turin, NY Josephine passed on to her reward peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on September 22, 2021. She is survived by her two sons and daughters in law, Bohdan and Betty Krop and Roman and Sherri Kropp; also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and her dear friend, Linda Millard, Betty's sister, who also resides with them. There will be a private funeral and graveside service for Josephine at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville and at the Ukrainian Cemetery, town of Whitestown, where her family will celebrate her life and give all glory to God.
