Joseph S. 'Joe' Longway

Constableville- Joseph S. Longway, 52, of Meyer Road, husband of Deborah, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at SUNY Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse. He was a native and life resident of the Constableville area, born on May 16, 1959, a son of A. James and Rose Betsinger Longway. Joe grew up on the Zimmer Road and attended Constableville Elementary School, graduating from South Lewis Senior High School, with the Class of 1977. In January, 1978, he began his career as a gradall operator, snow plow operator, and general heavy equipment operator for the Town of West Turin Highway Department at Constableville. On August 27, 1977, Joseph was united in marriage with Deborah J. Goodhines at St. Peter's and Paul's Church at Fish Creek. After that the couple lived in Constableville, moving to their present home in 1984. For twenty years Joe was a member of the Constableville Fire Department. He greatly enjoyed reading, working around his home and playing cards. Joe greatly loved his wife, children and family. In addition to his wife, Deborah, he is survived by two sons and daughters in law; Steven M. and Angela Longway, Churchville, John J. and Jolene Longway, Boonville; a grandson, Alexander, Churchville, his parents A. James and Rose Longway, Constableville; one brother, David Longway, Boonville; one sister and brother in law, Jennifer and Jeff Lovenduski, Constableville, and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and brothers and sisters in law. His memorial mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Sean Patrick O'Brien, on Saturday, October 8, 2011, at 12:30 P.M. at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville, with interment to follow in St. Peter's & Paul's Cemetery, Fish Creek. In keeping with Joe's avid interest in reading, those desiring may make a memorial contribution to the Constableville Library, Main St. Constableville, NY 13325.
