Boonville- Joseph E. White, Sr. 90, of Buck Corner Rd. husband of Helen, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, after a short illness. He was born in Boonville, on October 13, 1920, a son of Robert and Gertrude Day White. Joseph grew up in the Gravesville area (Herkimer Co.) and in Port Leyden, where he compelted his education. He served for one year in the CCC Camps in the Carthage area. On October 25, 1941, Joseph was untied in marrriage with Helen Shippers at the parsonage of the Congregational Church, Port Leyden. After their marriage they lived in Kosterville, before moving to Port Leyden, where they lived on Pearl St. for many years, later moving to Charles St. Boonville, and then to their present home in the Town of Lyonsdale. Starting in 1951, Mr. White was employed at Gould Paper Co. as a fork truck operator, retirng in 1983, from Georgia Pacific Paper Co. both of Lyons Falls. He and Helen attended the Hawkinsville United Methodist Church. For many years Joe greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing. In addition to his wife, Joe is survived by a daughter, Sonja Skidmore, Forestport; a son, William J. White, Rome; a daughter, Joanne Fahey, Port Leyden; a son Joseph E. White, Jr. Boonville. He was predeceased by a son Jeffrey, on November 22, 2003. Also surviving are several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and one great great grandson, Logan Ryan Palmer, two brothers, Herman White, San Antino, TX, Lawrence White, Shelburne, MA; one sister, Violet Yauger, Port Leyden; and one brother in law, William Shippers, Boonville. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no calling hours, services and interment in Wildwood Cemetery Lyons Falls, will be private. Memorial contributions may be made to Lyons Falls Fire Co.
