ï¿" Boonville- John W. Cady, 79, affectionately known as "Jack" husband of Angela, owner of the former Angie's Restaurant, Boonville, passed away on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at Rome Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. Jack was born in Rome, on June 9, 1933, a son of Druh E. and Adelaide Cleveland Cady. He grew up in Rome, where he graduated from St. Aloysius Academy, with the Class of 1953. While in high school, he was a member of the Football Team and played the piano and accordion in the high school band, which was known as the "Kingsmen." In January, 1954, Mr. Cady entered the U.S. Army, serving his country stateside during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Private First Class from Ft. Hamilton, NY, on January 13, 1956. After that he returned to Rome, where he was employed at Rome Cable Co. On August 6, 1955, Jack was united in marriage with Angela Gualtieri, at St. John the Baptist Church of Rome. Thereafter the couple lived in Rome for several years. For many years Mr. Cady was employed in advertising sales and management for area newspapers. He was the general manager of the Penny Saver Newspaper of Clinton, sales manager at Steffen Publishing Co., Holland Patent. In 1982, Jack and Angela moved from Rome to Lowville, where they established Angies Family Pizzeria and Restaurant on South State Street. In 1985, the couple purchased the former Friendly Tavern on Rt. 12 near Boonville, establishing Angies Family Restaurant, a well known eatery that featured Italian and American Cuisine. They sold their Lowville restaurant in 1987, when they moved to their present home in Boonville. In the 1990's they sold their Boonville restaurant and Mr. Cady returned to newspaper advertising, retiring after many years as advertising manager for the Boonville Herald. Mr. Cady was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Boonville. He greatly enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time in the Adirondack Mountains. He was a people person. In addition to his wife, Angela, he is survived by one daughter, Barbara Ann Cady, Milford, NH, one son and daughter in law, David. J. and Karen D. Cady, Boonville, four grandchildren, Joseph and Jason Guelfi and Elijah Markey, all Milford, NH, and Christopher (Elizabeth) Cady, Rome, one brother, John (Patricia) Cady, Rome, and several nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday at 10 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville, where Rev. Sean Patrick O'Brien pastor will officiate. Interment with military honors from the Charles J. Love Post American Legion, Harland J. Hennessey Post VFW, and the Tun Tavern Marine Corps League, all of Boonville, will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boonville.
