John S. Cullings

West Leyden- John Stephen Cullings, 33, of Osceola Road, passed away at his residence on Sunday, October 17, 2021. John was born in Lowville, on November 14, 1987, a son of Joseph E. and Sharon E. Tanner Cullings. He was a lifelong resident of the Osceola Road, receiving his education at West Leyden Elementary School and at Adirondack Central High School, Boonville. His first employment was at Wilbert's Christmas Tree Farm on Fish Creek Road, West Leyden. Later he was employed for an asbestos removal company, in the Lowville area. When the former Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome was reconstructed into a modern business park, John was employed in tree planting, hydro seeding and landscaping of the area for Miller's Landscaping Company. At the present time, John worked as a carpenter alongside his brothers in building cabins in the operation of Cullings Construction, West Leyden. John loved hunting, fishing, camping, riding motor cycles and four wheelers. Most of all, he greatly loved and cherished spending time with this family and friends. In addition to his parents, Joseph and Sharon, of West Leyden, John is survived by his children; James Stephen, 14, Cali May, 12 and Bella Nicole, 8; his girlfriend, Shyanne Farr; brothers, Joseph Cullings, and Kari Dutch and Joshua Cullings; grandmother, Marlene Tanner, a special cousin who was also his best friend, Matthew Tanner and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. John's life can be best summed by this statement: "John had a big heart and will be sadly missed by many." Calling hours are Thursday from 4-7 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville. Interment will be private at the convenience of his family in St. Peter's & Paul's Cemetery, Fish Creek.
