Forestport- John L. Vogt, 80, of Kincaid Road, husband of Arlene, passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at St. Lukes Memorial Hospital, New Hartford. John was born in Buffalo, on December 30, 1937, a son of John N. and Bernice P. Dey Vogt. He grew up near Jordan, NY, and graduated from Cato-Meridian Central School, with the Class of 1955. Thereafter, for many years John was employed in the sales department at Monarch Machine and Tool Co. of Cortland; from 1971 until 1993, Mr. Vogt was a Regional Sales Manager for Giddings & Lewis Co. Tool and Die Manufacturing Co. of FonDuLac, WI. In 1993, he founded Vogt Technology, Inc., a company which represented companies selling part washing equipment. Mr. Vogt retired in 2015. On May 1, 1959, John was united in marriage with Arlene L. Webster, in Weedsport, NY. Thereafter the couple lived in Homer for many years and in Honeoye Falls, NY, for fifteen years, before moving to their present home in Forestport, in 2005. John greatly enjoyed outdoor sports including snowmobiling, four wheeling and boating. In addition to his wife, Arlene, John is survived by one daughter and son in law, Judy (Jay) Tinker, Tully, NY; one son and daughter in law, John (Alene) Vogt, Marathon, NY; four grandchildren, Jaylynn (Dan) Boyce, Justin (Jennifer) Tinker, John Vogt and Jerralynn Vogt and two great grandchildren, Wyatt Tinker and Hadley Vogt and several nieces and nephews, a brother Charles Vogt, Auburn, a sister Georgette McNally, Peoria, AZ. He was predeceased infant son, Charles Vogt and by a sister Bernadette Lamb-Walton. There will be no visitation hours or services at this time. A celebration of his life will take place later this spring at a time to be determined.
