Lutz, FL- John E. Romeo, 42, of Lutz, Florida, a former resident of Boonville, passed away suddenly on Friday, April 19, 2013, at St. Joseph's Hospital, North, in Lutz, Fla. John was born in New Hartford, on April 22, 1970, a son of Louis and Thelma Wheelock Romeo. He grew up on Woodgate Drive in Boonville and graduated from Adirondack High School, with the Class of 1988. While in high school, John was inducted into the National Honor Society. After completing his education he was employed at Shoemakers Dry Cleaning of Boonville, and in maintenance at Kortenaer Village Apartments in Boonville. Later he lived in the Albany area, where he was employed by a screen printing company. Several years ago, John relocated to Florida, where he had lived for several years. At the current time he was employed as assistant manager for Pier One Imports Retail Stores. Mr. Romeo was of the Catholic faith. While living in Boonville, he was an active member of Dodge-Pratt-Northam Art and Community Center of Boonville; he enjoyed antiques and toll painting. He is survived by his mother, Thelma, of Sachse, TX; two sisters, Jean (Robert) Thayer, Wylie TX, Karen (Kevin) Philbrick and one brother, Mark A. Romeo, all of Boonville; five nieces and nephews, Nicole and husband Christopher Heimann, Garland, TX, Robert Thayer, Jr, Wylie, TX, Ryan Philbrick, serving in the US Marine Corps and Abby and Kara Philbrick, both of Boonville, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. John was predeceased by his father, Louis, in 1995, and by his maternal grandparents, Francis and Edna Wheelock and Joseph and Margaret Romeo. His funeral will be Saturday at 9:15 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, and at 10:00 A.M. at St. Joseph's Church, Boonville, where Rev. Sean Patrick O'Brien, pastor will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. Calling hours are Friday 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean I'll miss you, Until we meet again!
