John C. Grenicko

June 17, 1952 — October 10, 2018

Remsen- John C. Grenicko, 66, of Wheelertown Road, passed away while surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness, on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at St. Elizabeths Medical Center, Utica. John was born in Rome, on June 17, 1952, a son of Andrew and Lorena Burr Grenicko. He grew up on Crofoot Hill near Constableville, later moving with his family to Boonville, where he completed his education at Boonville Central School. From 1969, until his honorable discharge in 1971, John served his country in the U.S. Army, in combat, in multiple tours in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. In 1973, he was honorably discharged from the US Army Reserves. While serving in the army, he earned his High School GED. On September 7, 1972, John was married to Mary E. Bradley, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Utica. Afterwards the couple lived in Utica. In 1989, the couple was divorced and John moved to his present home near Remsen. For forty years Mr. Grenicko was employed as a logger throughout central and northern New York. He greatly enjoyed hunting fishing, kayaking and spending time with his children and grandchildren. John was also a skilled diesel mechanic. John is survived by his children: Lynn M. (Troy J.) Grenicko, John C. Grenicko, Jr. all of Bridgewater, Renee L. Grenicko, Utica; three grandchildren, Andrew J. Grenicko, Karlie R. Grenicko-Haman, both of Bridgewater, Jerome W. Grenicko, Remsen; his girlfriend, Tammy Heaton, Remsen and brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, a sister Renee a nephew, Stephen Grenicko, Jr and many aunts and uncles. His Funeral will be Wednesday, October 17, at 3:00 P.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, NY, with interment with Military honors at St. Patricks Cemetery, Constableville. Calling hours are Wednesday from 1 P.M. until the funeral, at the funeral home.
