John B. Meyers Alder Creek- John B. Meyers, 58, passed away on December 1, 2005, at his home with his loving family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer. John was born in Utica on July 19, 1947, to Janette Meyers and the late John F. Meyers. John greatly loved his family, and his family were the center piece of his life. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kathryn Rogers Meyers, three daughters and one son in law; Jennifer Meyers, Heather and Christopher Charlebois, and Kimberly Meyers, five grandchildren; Anthony, Alexis, and Alyssa, Ryan and Heidi, one sister and brother in law; Jody and Scott VanBuskirk, one brother; Jay Meyers and his mother in law; Gladys Rogers. John is also survived by his brother in law, Kerry, and his wife, Mary Jane Rogers, brother in law, Mike and wife Shannon Rogers. Nieces and nephews include: Lauren, Patrick, Julie, Jimmy, Johnny, Josh, Katelyn, Dan, Ben, Chris and Amber, and special friends; Evan, Phil, Sam, Mary, and Debbi. John graduated from Whitesboro High School, and attended MVCC. He was a volunteer firefighter for Deerfield and Maynard Fire Departments. Later he served and retired as Lieutenant for the Utica Fire Department in 1997. At one time he owned and operated the North Utica Florist and Marcy Over Head Door. John liked to call himself "Jack of all trades, master of none," and he always worked several jobs to support his family. John loved life, and he continued to live life to its fullest and was young at heart. He enjoyed horse back riding, traveling, camping, fishing, hunting and riding his harley. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church of Boonville. John gave his cancer a strong fight over the past six years, surpassing all statistics and expectations that were given him in 1997. In the end cancer won, when John decided to choose quality and comfort of life over quanity of life. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service for John at 2 pm Sunday at the Boonville United Methodist Church, Main St., Boonville, with Rev. William A. Mudge, Pastor, officaiting. Johnï¿(TM)s family will receive guests at the conclusion of the service. There will be no calling hours. Flowers are gratefully declined.
