Boonville- Joanne Julia Brooks Levensailor, 85, passed away at her residence, after a short illness, on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, while surrounded by her loving family and hospice. Joanne was born at the family homestead on the East Road, Town of Leyden, on November 17, 1935, a daughter of Leon and Julia DeVoe Brooks. She grew up on the East Road, receiving her education at the East Road Rural School before graduating from Boonville Central School, with the Class of 1955. Thereafter she was employed on a farm, before fourteen years of employment in the finishing department of Ethan Allen Furniture Co., Boonville. Afterwards, for 26 and a half years, Joanne was employed as a Laboratory Technician, first at Georgia Pacific Paper Co., retiring in 1999 in the same capacity from Lyons Falls Pulp & Paper Co. Lyons Falls. She found much enjoyment in hunting and painting scenes on cross cut saw blades. She was a life member of the Tannery Tract Hunting Club, the Moose River Fish and Game Club and the Boonville Rod & Gun Club. She is survived by her children; Steven (Diana) Leffingwell, Jacksonville, NC, Gerald (Sandra) Leffingwell, Jacksonville, FL, Timothy Levensailor, Lyons Falls, Thomas Levensailor, Glenfield, Jody Levensailor, Dolgeville, Tina (Richard) Compo, Port Leyden and Penny (Joseph) LoCash, Forestport; step children, Warren, Jr. (Charlotte) Levensailor, Port Leyden, Michael (Cynthia) Levensailor, Old Forge, Marylou (Dale) Hawk, Port Leyden; grandchildren, Johnny, Rebecca, Patricia, Melissa, Christina, Dustin, Brandy, Jill, Arthur. Justin, Neil, Nicole, Nancy Jo, Angela, Andrew and Joshua; many great grandchildren and step grandchildren; her sisters and brothers in law, Linda and Cleon Peebles, Anaheim, CA, Noreen (Richard) Stacy, Blossvale, Erma (Robert) Matuszczak, Port Leyden; son in law, Kevin Rundle, Little Falls, and a brother in law, Charles Mooney, Boonville. Joanne was predeceased by a daughter, Jeanne Leffingwell Rundle, a grandson, Steven Peter Leffingwell, great grandson, Brett Levensailor, great granddaughter, Ryleigh Levensailor, brother and sister in law, Leon (Bruce) and Peg Brooks, sister, Jeanne Mooney, who was Joanne's twin, and sister and brother in law, Marilyn (Russell) Urtz and grandson, Richard Compo, Jr. Joanne is also survived by her Furbabies; Peewee, Hazel and Sugar. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday May 12, 2021, at Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewis County Humane Society, P.O. Box 682, Lowville, NY 13367. Her arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. Boonville.
