BARNEVELD - James Kenneth "Jimmy" Ossont, 57, passed away peacefully following a long illness at Strong Memorial Hospital on January 18, 2023 with his

loving family by his side.

Born in Utica, on November 13, 1965 to Kenneth L. and Linda A. (Webster) Ossont. Jim graduated from Remsen High School in 1983. He married

Cherie Oaster in July 1984, together they share four children; later the couple divorced.

Through the years Jim was employed with Smith Packing,

Scheidelman Inc., and Production Painting along with his brother Steve Jones. While working for Lowe’s he met his second wife, Lea Silvernail. They married in July 2019.

Jim enjoyed watching sports, coaching soccer when his children were young,

listening to classic rock, cooking and bird watching. He also took pride in creating and caring for his beautiful aquariums.

Jim is survived by his loving wife Lea, and her two children, Tom and Grace

Beatty; his daughters: Richelle and Fred Murray, Valerie Houck (Mike Bailey), sons: Derek Ossont (Larae Gillette) and Devin Ossont, 12 grandchildren, his mother and step-father Linda and John “Jack” Jones and sisters: Kristina Sutherland and Judith Smith. He will be missed by his father and mother-

In-law Joseph and Carol Robenski, and brother-in-law John (Melina) Sauveur, whom he shared a special bond with. He is also survived by step-siblings: Mary Mills, Denise Jones, Helen Jones and Richard (Colleen) Jones, many aunts, uncles,

cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was predeceased by his father Kenneth L. Ossont; step-brother Steven

Jones; brother-in-law Danny Sutherland; and grandparents Arlene and Floyd Ossont and Mildred and Kenneth Webster.

Per Jim's wishes there will be no service. A celebration of life and burial will

be announced in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Jim's

remembrance to your local fire company.
