Jere E. Casler

Boonville - Jere E. Casler, 68, of South Street, and formerly of North Lake Road, Forestport, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare in New Hartford. He was born in Little Falls on November 25, 1940 to Silas and Leona Turpin Casler. Jere grew up in Jordanville and graduated from Owen D. Young High School in Van Hornesville. Following college he was employed as a tool and die maker at Remington Arms Co. in Ilion. Mr. Casler was also employed as a groundskeeper at the Adirondack League Club in Old Forge before retiring in 1989. Mr. Casler was of the Catholic faith. He enjoyed hunting and working in the woods. He is survived by four nieces, Penny Watkins and Glenny Monahan, both of Mohawk, and Melissa Tripolone and Lenora Wright, both of St. Mary's, GA; a nephew, Edward Casler, Jr. of Walterboro, SC; several grandnieces and grandnephews; and a special friend, Bob Handley. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward W. Casler. In keeping with his wishes there will be no calling hours or services. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Herkimer. Memorials may be made to American Heart Association, Heart Gifts Processing Center, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049 or to the American Diabetes Association, Utica Office, Lomond Office Park, 110 Lomond Court, Utica, NY 13502. Arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville, NY.
