Boonville- Jeanne M. Mooney, 83, of Kerwin Road, wife of Charles, passed away at her residence on Saturday, April 13, 2019, while surrounded by the loving care of her family and hospice. Jeanne was born on November 17, 1935, on the East Road, Town of Leyden, a daughter of Leon A. and Julia DeVoe Brooks. She attended the East Road Country School, later graduating from Boonville Central School, with the Class of 1954. For fifteen years Jeanne was employed in the sanding and staining department of Ethan Allen Furniture Co., Boonville. Beginning in 1973, Jeanne was employed as a paper tester, first at Georgia Pacific Paper Co., Lyons Falls, retiring from Lyons Falls Pulp and Paper, in 1998. She was married to David Jones, who passed away on June 28, 1966. In 1967, she moved to her present home on Kerwin Road. On January 14, 1978, Jeanne was united in marriage with Charles D. Mooney, Jr. at St. Martins Church, Port Leyden. Mrs. Mooney was of the Catholic Faith; she and Charles attended St. Marys Church, Constableville, St. Marys Nativity Church, West Leyden and St. Martins Church, Port Leyden. Jeanne and Charles greatly enjoyed hunting, both in the northern and southern hunting zones. She was a member of Lewis County Sportsmens Club, Moose River Fish and Game Club, Lyons Falls and a member of Tannery Track Hunting Club. She also enjoyed woodworking, crafts and baking. In later years she found great interest and enjoyment from tracing her family genealogy. In addition to her husband, Charles, Jeanne is survived by two daughters, Tammy (Nelson) Jones, Cold Brook and Julie Paquin, Poland, NY; two grandchildren, Kodie Paquin and Nathan Jones; four sisters, Joanne Levensailor, Boonville, Linda (Cleon) Peebles, Anaheim, CA, Noreen (Richard) Stacy, Blossvale and Erma (Robert) Matuszczak, Port Leyden and by a sister in law, Thelma Trombley, Lyons Falls. Jeanne was predeceased by a sister and brother in law, Marilyn and Russell Urtz and by a brother and sister in law, Leon and Margaret Brooks; brother in law, Ed Trombley, brothers in law and sisters in law, Bernard and Irma Post, and Gordon and Lois Post. Jeanne possessed a very tender spot in her heart for all kinds of animals, especially her many feline and canine friends who were a part of her family. Her Funeral will be Wednesday, at 9:30 A.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, and at 10:30 A.M. at St. Martins Church, Port Leyden, where Rev. Lawrence Marullo, Pastor will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Port Leyden. Calling hours are Tuesday 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
