Jeanie Marie Zeigler

August 2, 1958 — January 17, 2022

Port Leyden- Jeanie Marie (Sullivan) Zeiger, 63, of South Elm Street, formerly of Mineral Springs Road, Boonville and widow of Cory "Cork" Zeigler, passed away while surrounded by the loving care of her family on Monday, January 17, 2022, at Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville. Jeanie was born in Constableville, NY, on August 2, 1958, a daughter of Percy and Irma McIntyre Sullivan. She grew up in Port Leyden and attended Port Leyden elementary school, before graduating from South Lewis Senior High School, with the Class of 1978. On July 7, 1979, Jeanie married the love of her life, Cory "Cork" Zeigler, at the home of the bride in Port Leyden. Thereafter the couple lived on Mineral Springs Road, near Boonville. Mrs. Zeigler was employed as a seamstress at Lally's Manufacturing Co, Port Leyden and for over ten years she was employed as a food service worker at the Buffalo Head Restaurant, Forestport. Her husband, Cork, who was employed in the Saw Mill at Ethan Allen Furniture Co. Boonville for over 30 years, passed away on March 20, 2015. Of the Catholic faith, she attended St. Martin's Church, Port Leyden. She greatly enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, with her husband and for many years she and Cork greatly enjoyed the Zeigler Family Sledding Party held on the big hill of the Mineral Springs Road and family picnics. She also greatly enjoyed holidays, gardening and raising all kinds of flowers, doing crafts and making "Hornaments" for loved ones at Christmastime. Jeanie will be fondly remembered as a kind and loving person who possessed the ability to light up wherever she was and her infectious smile and laugh. Jeanie and Cork were predeceased by a son, Bradley Ervin Zeigler, on September 6, 1981 and Jeanie was predeceased by her mother, Irma Sullivan, on January 15, 2022 and by her father, Percy Sullivan, on December 21, 2013. She is survived by her siblings; Rebecca Sullivan, Lyons Falls, Steven (Dawn) Sullivan, Remsen, Margaret (Sullivan) Krokowski, Port Leyden, Tracy (John) Hastwell, III, Boonville, Jeffrey (Sheila) Sullivan, Port Leyden, Charles (Starr) Sullivan, Constableville and Janet (Matthew) Evans, Brantingham. She is also survived by brothers and sisters in law; Larry Zeigler, Ron (Dianna) Zeigler, Lynn (Tina) Zeigler, Dwayne (Charlotte) Zeigler and a sister-in-law, Bonnie (George) Snyder, all of Boonville and Jeanie dearly loved her many nieces and nephews. Jeanie was predeceased by her father in law, Ervin Zeigler, her mother-in-law, Louise Zeigler, sister-in-law, Cindy Zeigler and brother-in-law, Mark Krokowski and by a niece, Adrianna Rochelle Evans, who passed away as an infant. Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of the lives of Jeanie Zeigler and her mother, Irma Sullivan, on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. the Community Room of the Port Leyden Fire Hall.
