Boonville - Jean (Goodhines) Gleasman, 81, of Moose River Road, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 2009, at Lewis County General Hospital in Lowville after a brief illness. She was born in Constableville on August 27, 1927, to Walter J. and Clara K. Scheidelman Goodhines. Jean graduated from Constableville High School with the Class of 1944, and then from Excelsior School of Business in Utica on July 1, 1945. She was employed at Gleasman Auto Sales from 1946 to 1948, and then at Sheffield Farms as a lab technician from 1949 until 1954, when the lab department was phased out. Mrs. Gleasman was employed as a secretary at Boonville Manufacturing Company from 1955 until 1976. On July 6, 1957, Jean was united in marriage with Harley R. Gleasman at St. Mary's Church, West Leyden. The couple made their home on Fish Creek Road near West Leyden, later moving to their present home near Boonville in 1969. In 1976 the couple purchased the Montgomery Ward Catalog Sales Agency of Boonville and operated it until the store was sold in 1978. She then worked as a clerk for the new owner, Joseph Pfeiffer. For a period of twelve years Jean was the bookkeeper for her husband's liquor store and laundromat businesses. Jean loved baseball and was an avid New York Yankees fan. In addition to her husband, Harley, she is survived buy a son, Phillip D. Gleasman of Boonville; two grandchildren, Travis and Ashley Gleasman, both of Boonville; a sister, Irene DeVoe of Boonville; and a daughter-in-law, Lana Gleasman, also of Boonville. She was predeceased by a daughter, Laurie Ann, on January 10, 1966; a son, Gary M. Gleasman, on May 29, 2006; and a brother, Gordon Goodhines, in October 1995. In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to a committal service on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boonville, where the Reverend Donald H. Karlen, pastor of St. Joseph's Church, Boonville, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Jean's memory to your favorite charity. Her arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville, NY.
