She was predeceased by brothers, Robert, David and Wallace, and by two close friends, Monica Williams and Shirley Blair. Also surviving are special friends; Eric Wojahn, and Teresa Scheve. She was born in Englewood, NJ, on February 16, 1924, a daughter of Wallace and Lucy Schultheiser Flint. She grew up in Harrington Park, NJ and graduated from Dumont High School, with the Class of 1941. After graduating from high school, Jean furthered her education attending Hackensack Hospital Nursing School, Hackensack, NJ. When she was a child she began traveling to Boonville, in the summer, where she and her family stayed at "The Tuscarora," a camp on the Black River. While visiting Boonville, Jean met the love of her life, Harry Erlo Capron. Staff Sgt. Capron, a highly decorated WWII veteran of the US Army Air Corps and Jean, were united in marriage on September 22, 1945, at the home of the bride in Harrington Park. This was a loving union that endured for 68 years until Mr. Capron, who had served his community in many ways, passed away on November 2, 2013. After their marriage the couple settled in Boonville, where they lived on the Millers Woods Road near Hawkinsville, before moving to Jackson Hill Road, in 1964, when they purchased the Mitchelson Farm. Together the Capron family operated this farm until 1986, when they retired and moved to their present home in Boonville. In 1960, after her youngest child began school, Mrs. Capron enrolled in a correspondence course in creative writing. Her first short story was published in 1961; in 1967, at the age of 43, her first of ten novels was published, "The Trouble with Lucy." For over 30 years she greatly enjoyed her role as Boonville Herald Columnist. For many years Mrs. Capron was a member of a local writers club. For many years, Mrs. Capron served on the Erwin Library Board of Directors, and had served as board secretary for many years, a member of local writing clubs, the Boonville Historical Club and for many years she served on the Oneida County Election Board, serving in Boonville. Mrs. Capron was an avid reader. Jean would say that she was well known for her wearing red lip stick and her dry wit. Services will be on Friday at 11:00 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, with interment in the spring in Boonville Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. and Friday, from 10 a.m. until the services at the funeral home.
