Boonville- Jaun (Rowell) Lee Deitch, 79, a former longtime resident of State Rt. 12, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. Prior to entering the hospital, Jaun was a resident at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville. She was born in Otter Creek, near the Lewis Co. hamlet of Greig, on June 29, 1931, a daughter of Elwin and Florence Wormwood Rowell. She graduated from General Martin High School, Glenfield, with the class of 1949. On November 9, 1949, Jaun was united in marriage with Paul A. Lee, at the Glenfield United Methodist Church. After that the couple lived in Glenfield, where Mr. Lee was employed for E.H. Rowell Westinghouse Appliance Co. In 1956, the couple purchased the former Stephon Farm on Rt. 12, south of Boonville, which they operated and named "Green Meadow Farm." In 1997, they retired from farming, and moved to Main St. Boonville. Mr. Lee died on May 2, 1999. On April 6, 2004, she married Maurice Henry "Sonny" Deitch, who now resides with his son Kerry in the Seattle WA area. Mrs. Lee was an active member of Boonville United Methodist Church. For twenty years she served as pastor of the Hawkinsville United Methodist Church; during some of those years she pastored the Talcottville United Methodist Church. For many years she taught Sunday school, and was a frequent speaker on farm programs on radio station W.B.R.V. Jaun was also an active group leader of A.A. and Alateen. She was an advocate for farm economics and actively lobbied in Washington D.C. for W.I.F.E. (Women Involved in Farm Economics.) She was devoted to her family, and greatly enjoyed the role of a home maker. She is survived by three daughters and sons in law, Linda K. (Larry) Vicks, Nancy J. (Jack) Capron, both of Skaneateles, Amy M. (Scott) Griffin, Boonville; three sons, David P. Lee and Jackie Karpinksi, Peter R. Lee, and wife, Connie, both of Boonville, and Mark J. Lee and wife, Valerie, Lyons Falls, 18 grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren; four sisters, Eileen (John) Clark, Elaine (Robert) Boshart, both of Turin, Kay (Joe) Zeosky, Lowville, Gail Starr, Albany, CA; one brother in law, Richard (Gladys) Lee, Boonville. Jaun's family wish to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville, and to the staff at St. Luke's Memorial Hospital, New Hartford, for the tender care their mother received. Her Funeral will be Saturday at 10:00 A.M. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, and at 11:00 A.M. at the Boonville United Methodist Church. A spring interment will be in Boonville Cemetery. Visitation hours are Friday 3-7 P.M. at the funeral home.
