Boonville - Jane A. Flansburg, 92, formerly of John Street, Constableville and Kortenaer Village, Boonville, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Boonville where she had resided since December 2002. Jane was born on November 27, 1916, in Saskatchewan, Canada to William C. and Mabel L. Salmon Jackson. At the age of 10 she moved with her family to Cherry Valley, NY, where she completed her formal education at Cherry Valley High School. On February 14, 1934, Jane was married to DeForest A. Flansburg in Fort Plain, NY. In 1935 the couple moved to Lewis County where they settled and operated a dairy farm on the Plummer Road in Highmarket until later moving to Lyons Falls. In 1949 the couple moved to the Doyle farm on Fish Creek Road, which they operated until moving in 1959 to John Street in Constableville. Mrs. Flansburg was employed as a nurse's assistant at Sunset Nursing and Maternity Home in Constableville, then later as a private residence healthcare giver in the Boonville area. She had held both positions for several years. Mr. Flansburg died on October 15, 1998. Her survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Duane and Eileen of Camden, and Thomas and Patricia of Constableville; two daughters, Wanetta Norton of Boonville and Jeanette Colasanti of Utica; twenty-one grandchildren; twenty seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Madge Damuth of Utica, Doreen Carpenter of Boonville, and Edna Jackson of Lowville; two daughters-in-law, Belinda Flansburg of Alder Creek and Colleen Flansburg of Lyons Falls; and several nieces and nephews. Jane was predeceased by three sons, DeForest on April 13, 2007, James on June 15, 2005, and Gerald on July 1, 1997; two great-grandsons, Robert Michael Flansburg on September 2, 1990, and Philip Flansburg on December 17, 2002; two sisters, Margaret Wendt in 1971, and Eleanor Meiss in 1977; a brother, William A. Jackson, in 1979; and a daughter-in-law, Rita Flansburg, on March 28, 2006. Jane will be fondly remembered for her kind and gentle ways, her grace and dignity, and her special smile. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her. Jane's family wishes to express their sincere and heart-felt thanks and great appreciation for the exceptional tender loving care that the A-wing staff and the entire staff of Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation Center extended to Jane. "You all made the later years of her life very pleasant and comfortable. Thank you." Her funeral will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville, where Rev. William A. Mudge, pastor of Boonville United Methodist Church will officiate.
