James Leo Lamb

Rome- James Leo Lamb, 88, a former longtime resident of Mullen Hill, and more recently of Dustin Road, Kayuta Lake, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2021, at Sunset Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Boonville. James was born in Rome, on July 20, 1932, a son of Charles F. and Laura Frank Lamb. He grew up in Rome, receiving his education at St. Mary's School, before graduating from Rome Free Academy, with the Class of 1950. Thereafter, Mr. Lamb served his country in the U.S. Army, Germany, during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1954. For 43 years, Mr. Lamb was employed as a carpenter in major building construction with Local 1016, Carpenters Union of Utica, NY. On September 3, 1956, James was united in marriage with Florence Ripp, at St. Martin's Church, Port Leyden. Mrs. Lamb predeceased him in 1999. Mr. Lamb was of the Catholic faith and he greatly enjoyed antiques and while living in Taberg, Mr. Lamb operated Curiosity Antique Shop in Taberg. He also enjoyed wood working and constructing furniture. He is survived by his children; Paul, Christine, Theresa Picca, Gregory, Daniel, Janet, Jeffrey and Kathleen (Scott) Ramsdale; grandchildren, Laura Lamb, Tyler Lamb, Bartholomew Picca, Nathan Lamb, Samantha Ramsdale and Erin Ramsdale. He was predeceased by a son, David Lamb in 2019. Also surviving is a sister, Linda Nellenback. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles and a sister Alice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021, at 11:00 A.M., at St. Patrick's Church, Taberg, with interment to follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Taberg. Memorial contributions may be made to the Utica Rescue Mission, 293 Genesee Street, Utica, NY 13501. Funeral arrangements are in care of Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville.
