James A. Petell

Forestport - James A. Petell, 88, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018 while under the loving care of his family, Hospice, friends, neighbors, and Daughters for Hire. James was born on June 14, 1930 in Malone, a son of Lawrence and Bernnette Bissonette Petell. James completed his education, graduating from Immaculate Heart Academy, Watertown. James then entered the US Airforce in 1951, serving in both Japan and Korea during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in 1955. In June of 1951, James was united in marriage with Marcelle Dub at Holy Name Church, Tupper Lake. Marcelle passed away on November 17, 1978. Following his military service, the couple settled in Rome where James was employed for Mohawk Airlines. His career with the airlines spanned 38 years retiring from U.S. Airways, Syracuse, NY. Following his retirement, James built a log home in Forestport where he has resided since 1990. James is survived by four children: James, John (Miriam), Jerry (Kevin) and Jeannine (Jerry), seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, a sister in law, three nephews and one niece. Besides his wife Marcelle, he was predeceased by: his parents and his brother Robert. In keeping with his wishes, all services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are in care of the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., Boonville. Memorial contributions may be made to your local Hospice.
