Jacqueline M. Kenealy

Lowville- Jacqueline M. Kenealy, 62, of B. Arthur Road, wife of the late John J. passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, after a brief illness, while surrounded by the loving care of her family, at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown.

Affectionately known as Jackie, she was born in Lowville, on December 20, 1960, a daughter of John P. “Jack” and Eileen R. McCanney Conway. Jackie grew up on the Conway homestead farm on the East Road, near Turin and received her education at South Lewis Central School, graduating with the Class of 1979. Thereafter she continued her education at SUNY Morrisville, later graduating from Franklin University, earning her Bachelor Degree in Accounting. Jackie possessed a keen mind and was always interested in learning throughout her life and had continued her education with the goal of earning a Master Degree.

For the past seventeen years, until the present time she was employed as an Associate Accountant for Barrett Paving Materials of Watertown, NY and for a time until Covid began, Jackie was employed as an Adjunct Teacher of Accounting at Jefferson Community College, Watertown, a position which she greatly enjoyed and had looked forward to continuing.

On February 7, 1981, Jackie was united in marriage with John J. Kenealy, at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Houseville, where Rev. Paschal Rys, O.F.M. Conv., officiated. Mr. Kenealy, an employee of the Town of Martinsburg and later as truck driver for G.E. Hutchins Transport, Boonville, passed away on June 15, 2008.

Jackie had a lifelong interest in horses and for many years from childhood forward she showed quarter horses at major fairs and horseshows throughout New York state and the Northeast. She was a member of the American Quarter Horses Association. In addition to her equestrian interests, Jackie greatly enjoyed gardening and raising flowers, fishing, downhill skiing, bird hunting and she was an accomplished seamstress who made outfits for her granddaughter to wear while competing in horseshows. She also enjoyed weekly Sunday dinners with her children and grandchildren.

Jackie had attended St. Peter’s Church, Lowville and St. Hedwig’s Church, Houseville.

Jackie is survived by Lynn Allen, her companion of fourteen years; one daughter, Sarah A. Shue, Lowville; one son and daughter in law, Nicholas J. and Lindsey M. Kenealy, Port Leyden; her parents John P. “Jack” and Eileen R. Conway, Tuirn; five grandchildren, who affectionately referred to Jackie as “Grandma Dewey;” Julia Shue (Dillon Compo), Khloe Shue and Rozlyn Clark, all of Lowville and John and Wyatt Kenealy, Port Leyden; her siblings, Randal (Sue) Conway, Turin and Joanne (Dwayne) Salmon, Turin and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Trainor Funeral Home, Inc. 143 Schuyler St. Boonville, where Deacon Ronald Gingrich, of St. Peter’s Church, Lowville and St. Hedwig’s Church, Houseville, will officiate. Interment will follow in Martinsburg Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Following the cemetery services, all are invited to attend a luncheon and further celebration of Jackie’s life, at The Christian Community Center, East Road, Turin, beginning at 2:00 P.M. also on Wednesday.
