Jacqueline B. Witek

Westernville - Jacqueline B. (LaQuay) Witek, 80, of Dopp Hill Road, passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at Rome Memorial Hospital, while in the care of her loving family. A native of Boonville, she was born on December 9, 1929, a daughter of William and Helen (Fuller) LaQuay. She grew up in Boonville, receiving her education at Boonville High School. In 1948 Jacqueline was married to Joseph Howard. Mr. Howard died in 1962. On April 11, 1964, she was married to Walter F. Witek at the Boonville Methodist Church Parsonage. The couple made their home in Westernville. Jacqueline was employed at Moonan's Clothing Store in Boonville, and as a cook at the Westernville Hotel. Mr. Witek, a retired master bookbinder at Canterbury Press in Rome, died on June 10, 2001. Mrs. Witek was a member of Westernville United Methodist Church and the Western American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She loved cooking, canning fruits and vegetables, camping, walking and snowshoeing. Her survivors include five sons, Joseph (Jackie) Howard of Canton, MI, Mark (Patricia A.) Howard of Westernville, Ronald Howard and life companion Elaine Long of Verona Beach, Richard (Lorraine) Howard of Taberg, and Kenneth (Sandra)Witek of Westernville; two daughters, Patricia (Richard) Brown of Westernville, and Deborah and lifelong companion Robert Boyer of Pulaski; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; four sisters, Helen Weiler and Shirley (George) Weiler, all of West Leyden, Luella (Paul) Kightlinger, Tuscon, AZ, and Donna (David) Douglas of Boonville; two brothers, Grant LaQuay of Remsen and Larry LaQuay of St. Petersburg, FL. She was predeceased by two sisters, Muriel Sanger and Lucille Utsler, a brother, Roger LaQuay, and a brother-in-law, Alvin Weiler. Funeral Services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Westernville United Methodist Church, with interment to follow in Westernville Cemetery. Visitation hours are Thursday 2-7 p.m. at the Trainor Funeral Home, Inc., 143 Schuyler Street, Boonville. Memorial contributions may be made to Rome Memorial Hospital, to benefit Employee Health Education/Community Health Education.
